How to Apply

Required documents

  • A cover letter detailing your areas of interest and background
  • An up-to-date resume
  • A writing sample of approximately 500 words on a relevant topic
    (It may be an excerpt from a larger paper or a piece written specifically for this application. This is an opportunity to showcase your analytical abilities, as well as your background and prior experiences that relate to your areas of interest.)
  • An unofficial electronic copy of your transcripts

The application process

  • Applicants should apply to each and every internship position for which they would like to be considered; these will be evaluated as the applicant’s top choices. However, applicants should be aware that they may be considered for additional internship positions which they did not preselect.
  • Under Employment Listings at the top of the page, applicants should select Internships, found under the Current Listings heading.
  • Click on the title of the internship position for which you would like to apply. If this is your first time applying to an AEI Internship, select New Resume/CV.
  • Complete the online application, uploading all required documents.
  • After you submit your application, return to Job Listings and apply to any remaining internship positions for which you would like to be immediately considered.
  • After your first application submission, you can apply to subsequent internship positions by selecting Existing Resume/CV andlogging in with your email address and password.

 

Internship Application Deadlines

Applications are processed on a rolling basis, so we recommend applying early.

  • Summer: April 1
  • Fall: September 1
  • Winter/Spring: December 1
